'I have always been passionate about the environment, and it saddens me to see the unsustainable path that we are currently on. When discussing sustainability and climate change, overpopulation has always been at the centre of these discussions, however, we cannot address population growth without addressing overconsumption. In as much as overpopulation is problematic, I believe overconsumption is much more of a concern.
It is time we realize that we have a consumption crisis and we need to radically change the way we consume things. The focus should be on becoming conscious consumers especially at an individual level. For me, that means not buying things I don’t need and being creative with the things I already have. If we all do our part in tackling this major problem we can collectively strive to reduce our impact on this wonderful planet.'
